The Quiet Man Traditional Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Niche Drinks/Luxco. This traditional blended Irish whiskey is named in honor of Niche Drinks founder Ciaran Mulgrew’s father, a longtime bartender in the Northern Ireland city of Derry and a man who “told no tales.” This whiskey’s secret is its source, since Mulgrew is not allowed to disclose where it was distilled.

The nose has notes of dried flowers, vanilla, caramel candy, a touch of maltiness, linseed oil, and pencil shavings. The taste is thick and spicy with notes of cocoa, coffee beans, allspice, clove, nutmeg, ginger root, and a hint of butterscotch in the background. The finish is warm and soothing with a touch of black tea, shortbread cookies, honey, and vanilla. (February, 2016)
