The Glenlivet Tomnabat Hill Single Cask. Image courtesy The Glenlivet/Chivas Brothers. This cask-strength Glenlivet takes its name from one of the hills overlooking the distillery, and the single cask bottling was exclusively available in Canada. It was matured for 14 years in a second-fill Sherry cask, and the nose has the distillery’s traditional flowery and fruity notes along with hints of mint, chocolate, and honey for a gentle, smooth aroma. The taste is tart and peppery with notes of lemon pepper, dried flowers, touches of coconut, banana, honey, heather, and Clementine oranges. The finish is long with gently fading lemon pepper spiciness. Overall, high marks for good balance. (November, 2015)
