This no-age-statement single malt should not be confused with the Founder’s Reserve 1824, which was a limited-edition release in 2010 to mark the distillery’s expansion.
The nose is buttery and malty with notes of linseed oil, lemon zest, honey, butterscotch, and muted spices. The taste starts off malty, followed by a good buildup of white pepper along with notes of lemon zest, linseed oil, butterscotch, and honey in good balance. The finish has lingering white pepper spice, along with honey and a touch of butterscotch. Simple and clean. (March, 2015)
