The Glenallachie 18. Image courtesy The Glenallachie Distillery Company. The nose on this Speyside single malt is influenced by the Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry casks used in the final maturation, with notes of dark fruits, toffee, baking spices, honey, caramel, cocoa powder, and a hint of dried flowers. The taste is fruity and floral with honey, butterscotch, and touches of baking spices that develop slowly and linger through the gentle, long finish with just a hint of oak at the end. Wow!
