Midleton Very Rare 2014. Image courtesy Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard. The first Midleton Very Rare edition to carry the name of Midleton Master Distiller Brian Nation instead of his predecessor, Barry Crockett.

The nose is grassy with a hint of ginger and allspice, touches of honey, vanilla, and oak in the background. The taste has notes of lemongrass, black pepper, ginger, and allspice balanced by honey, vanilla, and a hint of milk chocolate. The finish is long and slightly tart with subtle spices. Excellent!
