While Diageo’s Port Ellen Distillery on Islay will be revived in 2020, the Port Ellen in this blend comes from the original distillery that closed in 1983. The blend also includes whiskies from the closed Caledonian and Carsebridge (grain) distilleries, along with malts from Mortlach, Oban, Cragganmore, Blair Athol, and Dailuane.

The nose is fruity and vibrant with a hint of smokiness and a slightly herbal mintiness. The taste has a good balance of smoke and fruity touches with grilled pineapple, orange marmalade, vanilla, and subtle spices. The finish is long with lingering fruits, soft smoke, and an aromatic touch of spearmint. Very nice! (August, 2018)
