Gooderham & Worts Eleven Souls. Image courtesy Corby Spirits & Wine. The name of this 2018 release in the Northern Border Collection Rare Series comes from the eleven orphans adopted by Gooderham & Worts founder William Gooderham in 1832 after their parents died on the voyage he made with them from England. It’s a blend of eleven component whiskies created by Dr. Don Livermore and matured in a combination of virgin oak, ex-Bourbon, and refill Canadian Whisky casks. The nose is warm, aromatic, and complex with a soft oakiness, tree fruits, touches of roasted almonds and vanilla beans, and a hint of black cherries. The taste has good rye spiciness balanced by fruity notes of peaches, apricots, and a hint of grapefruit along with a touch of honeycomb. The finish gently fades away with hints of clove, allspice, honey, and dried fruits. Excellent! (January, 2019)
