Compass Box Stranger & Stranger. Image courtesy Compass Box. This Compass Box expression takes its name from Stranger & Stranger, the London design agency that has collaborated with Compass Box on its label and packaging designs since 2008. It’s also unusual in that technically, this is not a Scotch Whisky. The blend includes some one-year-old grain whisky spirit matured in new oak barrels, which makes this a “spirit drink” instead of a Scotch Whisky.

Don’t be fooled by that label, though. This blend holds its own against anything else out there, with a nose that is woody and spicy with nice hints of vanilla, sandalwood, and red apples. The taste is sweet and malty with notes of barley sugar, honey, crème brûlée, and touches of white pepper and allspice that develop slowly and linger through the long, sweet finish. Excellent!
