Carsebridge 48 (2018 Edition). Image courtesy Diageo.Very old single grain whiskies are often hard to find, and while the Carsebridge Distillery near Stirling closed in 1983, some of its whisky is still in Diageo’s warehouses. This 2018 release is part of the Diageo Special Releases series, and was matured in refill American Oak hogsheads. The nose is fruity and floral with a hint of citrus and notes of vanilla, dried flowers, and a hint of oak for a delicate and complex aroma. The taste is tart and fruity with lemon zest, grapefruit, vanilla, and muted spices. The finish is long, tart, and fruity. Overall, a vibrant and luscious dram! (September, 2018)
