Bruichladdich Port Charlotte MC: 01 2009. Image courtesy Bruichladdich. This travel retail expression spent six years in ex-Bourbon casks and a final three years in Italian Marsala wine casks. The nose has notes of plums, raisins, a nice maltiness with barley sugar and fresh berries that add sweetness, and, of course, a subtle touch of peat. The taste is spicy with a subtle peatiness, cinnamon candies and touches of nutmeg and clove, along with sweeter notes of raspberry jam and barley sugar. The finish has a lingering kiss of smoke that closes it out nicely. (January, 2019)
