Brora 34 Years Old 2017 Release. Image courtesy Diageo. The 2017 Brora single malt in Diageo’s Special Releases series was distilled in 1982, a year before the distillery closed.

The nose has hints of seaweed, red apples, dried leaves, and subtle hints of citrus and rosemary. The taste starts off sweet, then turns sharp with black pepper and a hint of chili powder. The spices fade to reveal touches of campfire smoke, caramel apples, dark chocolate, and anise. The finish is long and well-balanced with hints of barley sugar, lingering black pepper and chili powder spices, red apples, and a soft oakiness. Excellent! (October, 2017)
