Bowmore Mizunara Cask Finish. Image courtesy Bowmore/Beam Suntory. This is the first single malt Scotch whisky to be finished in Japanese Mizunara Oak casks, and while it carries no age statement, it is bottled at a cask-strength 53.9% ABV.

The nose has a good balance of peatiness and honey sweetness, along with notes of pine, cedar, muted spices, and a hint of lemon zest. The taste is thick, smoky, and tangy with charred oak, peat, grilled meat, peaches, a touch of lemon zest tartness, and a hint of red apples. The finish is long and soft with lingering peat and touches of pine needles and cedar shavings. Overall, very aromatic and smooth. (September, 2015)
